Brendan Fitzgerald was forced to hide under a desk during the fan onslaught at UFC Fight Night 159.
The show must go on, as they say.
Last night, during the UFC Fight Night 159 main event in Mexico City, the Mexico City Arena erupted into chaos after disgruntled fans threw bottles, cans and various other objects into the Octagon in protest of the No Contest (NC) result between Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens.
During all this, UFC commentator and announcer Brendan Fitzgerald took cover under his commentary desk but continued to call the action. Co-commentator Michael Bisping posted video footage of the incident on social media; check it out below.

The fight was ruled a NC after home favorite Rodriguez landed an accidental eye poke on Stephens just 15 seconds into the first round. Stephens, who is widely considered one of the toughest fighters on the UFC roster, was unable to open his eye after the five-minute recovery period and referee Herb Dean was left no choice but to stop the fight.
Stephens was showered with beer and popcorn as he left the arena and it’s reported that the MMA veteran was still unable to open his eye in the locker room. ‘Lil Heathen’ said he suffered a deep scratch of his left eye and has requested an immediate rematch with Rodriguez.
“Let’s run it back, motherf*cker.”
