Dustin Poirier is willing to step up and face Tony Ferguson at UFC 245.
Top UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson is just itching to get his hands on Khabib Nurmagomedov, as ‘El Cucuy’ has called for a title shot against the undefeated Dagestani at the upcoming UFC 245 pay-per-view on December 14.
Nurmagomedov, however, is looking to take some time off to recover after his most recent title defense against Dustin Poirier, but ‘The Diamond’ would like to return to the Octagon as soon as possible.
Poirier responded to Ferguson by offering to fight the former interim lightweight champ at UFC 245 if Khabib ‘can’t make it’.
If he can’t make it. I can ???

“If he can’t make it. I can,” Poirier posted in response to Ferguson’s tweet.
Poirier, a former featherweight, was submitted by Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 after amassing an impressive win streak against Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez and Max Holloway. Despite suffering a huge setback against Nurmagomedov, Poirier is still considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and is ranked #2 in the official UFC lightweight rankings.
UFC 245, which is expected to feature a women’s bantamweight championship bout between Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie, takes place later this year, Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
