Daniel Cormier is ready to make one more walk to the Octagon before retiring. However, his final opponent won’t be Jon Jones. Instead, “DC” is opting to avenge his loss to Stipe Miocic before riding off into the sunset.

Despite this, many believe UFC president Dana White will try and squeeze one more fight out of Cormier. That fight being a trilogy bout against longtime hated rival Jon Jones. However, UFC Hall Of Famer Michael Bisping doesn’t see the upside in such a fight, as he explained in his “Believe You Me” podcast. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“Even if ‘DC’ wins he’s still down 2-1. There’s no upside to it obviously. It’s like you said [to co-host Luis Gomez], you brought it up a while ago when I was gonna fight Rashad Evans for my last fight. You don’t want it to be surrounded by all that negative drama. Which it would be, ‘DC’ and Jones can’t stand one another. ‘DC’ and Stipe, they respect one another.

“And the whole ‘DC,’ Jones thing it’s in the rear-view mirror now. It’s past, it’s gone. Let it go, focus on Stipe. The heavyweight belt is far more prestigious in the whole of combat sports. In boxing, MMA, whatever being the heavyweight champ I mean that’s a big deal, it always has been. So yeah I mean that’s great, can’t wait to see it.”

Jones and Cormier have shared the Octagon twice before. First, in January of 2015 in the main event of UFC 182, where “Bones” won via unanimous decision. They finally rematched at UFC 214 in 2017, where Jones won via third-round head kick knockout. However, Jones tested positive for a banned substance afterward, resulting in the loss being overturned to a No Contest.

Do you think a trilogy fight between Jones and Cormier will eventually happen? And do you agree with Bisping?
