Gennadiy Golovkin’s purse is a mixture of cash and equity from DAZN parent company.
The main event purses for the vacant IBF middleweight title between Gennadiy Golovkin and Sergiy Derevyanchenko have been revealed, and it’s a lot of money for both men.
ESPN’s Dan Rafael reported on Friday that Golovkin, who has an exclusive contract with DAZN, is getting a purse of $15 million that is split between cash and equity in DAZN’s parent company. It had been reported that part of GGG’s contract involved equity, so this appears to be confirmation of that.
This is not a career-high payday for Golovkin, as he earned at least double that money for both of his fights vs. Canelo Alvarez, but he’s certainly not hurting for cash with that DAZN money.
Derevyanchenko’s official purse is listed at $4 million, but his guarantee is $5.2 million, which is a career-high for the Ukrainian. It was just a year ago that he had a purse of $462,500 against Daniel Jacobs in a fight that was also for a vacant IBF title.
Golovkin vs. Derevyanchenko airs live on DAZN tonight (Saturday, October 5th) at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT from Madison Square Garden in New York.
