Welterweights Thiago Alves and Tim Means are apparently headed to Washington D.C. on December 7.

A clash of welterweight strikers is reportedly headed to Washington, D.C., in December. According to Brazilian news outlet Diario do Nordeste, former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves will take on fellow Muay Thai specialist Tim Means at UFC on ESPN 7 later this year.

Having lost three of his last four bouts, Thiago Alves (23-14) will try to bounce back from an unanimous decision defeat to Laureano Staropoli back in May. The loss came right after a win over Max Griffin in February. However, ‘Pitbull’ had been on a two-fight losing skid prior to the victory, at the hands of Alexey Kunchenko and Curtis Millender. That makes Griffin the sole victory on the 36-year-old’s record over the last two years.

In a similar situation, Tim Means (28-11-1-1 NC) will enter this bout off a brutal KO loss to Niko Prince in his last outing, back in March. Means defeated Ricky Rainey by knockout back in November of 2018. That victory snapped a two-fight skid for the ‘Dirty Bird’, who dropped split decisions to Sergio Moraes and Belal Muhammad prior to the win.

Now, Thiago Alves is expected to take on Tim Means at UFC on ESPN 7, on December 7, in Washington, D.C.. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between contenders Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris.
