Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Though just two victories into her UFC career, jiu-jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern has already made more headlines than most. The ADCC champ’s missed weight badly for his second UFC bout, showing up close to the Flyweight limit for her 115-pound bout. Not long after, Dern announced her pregnancy alongside her intent to return to combat shortly after.

True to her word, it’s been less than four months since the birth of her daughter, and Dern is set to compete on Saturday night opposite fellow grappler Amanda Ribas. This time around, Dern promises there will be no issues with her weight, and she actually credits breastfeeding for helping her keep the weight down. Here’s the quote courtesy of BloodyElbow: “I give her some powdered milk to help, because you lose some nutrients while dieting. But I’ve been breastfeeding normally, and that helps me to stay slimmer. Your weight comes off and it helps a lot. Sometimes a kick to the breast can hurt, or during a grappling session, but I’m used to it now. I don’t even feel the pain anymore. My body is reacting quite well. My weight is doing great, I’m at 116.8, and the limit is 116, so I’m not even struggling when it comes to weight cutting.”

We frequently see athletes credit their children with serving as inspiration to make it to the gym more often or push deeper in the tough moments of the fight, but this is a whole new positive!

Insomnia

Kron Gracie doesn’t have a ton of sympathy for Cub Swanson after “Killer Cub” was turned away from multiple jiu-jitsu gyms.

Weili Zhang shows off her hand speed:

I don’t know what year this picture was taken, but I’d much rather the bout have taken place then compared to now.

Exciting news for all the degenerate gamblers reading!

More short jokes from Dominick Cruz. Think “Triple C” is offended?

Look, I’m too soft towards animals to ever personally ride a bull, but Luke Rockhold legitimately pulled off some grappling technique here against an angry bovine.

Michelle Waterson doesn’t seem to worried about all the weigh-in drama.

A perfect counter head kick KO from Saenchai.

A rare finish from the rubber guard:

Brutal, close-range violence from Saygid “Dagi” Arslanaliev.

Apparently the solution for all problems is to leap in from 30 yards away/out of frame!

Midnight Music: It’s the 50-year anniversary of the greatest prog rock record of all time, King Crimson’s In the Court of the Crimson King, so tonight’s listening material was a very easy choice.
