Dominick Reyes knocked out Chris Weidman in the UFC Boston main event.
The UFC Boston card is officially in the books and the promotion’s undefeated #4 ranked light heavyweight, Dominick Reyes, knocked out the former middleweight king Chris Weidman in the first round.
Weidman got himself a takedown within the opening moments of the fight. Reyes rose up to his feet, but Weidman was still attached. Reyes got separation and dropped Weidman with a strong left cross. He followed up with some devastating ground and pound that put Weidman out. Yikes!
Reyes remains unbeaten at 12-0 in the biggest win of his career, and called out the current champ Jon Jones in his post-fight interview. As for Weidman, the move up to light heavyweight didn’t pan out as planned, and has now lost five of his last six. All of his losses have been by knockout or TKO, and this one was the quickest defeat of his career.
