Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor, who also held gold at 145 pounds, will be holding a “Notorious” press conference on Thursday (Oct. 24, 2019) in Moscow.

Sorry Khabib, looks like Russia wants him after all.

“McGregor will meet with reporters on October 24,” according to a press release posted on TASS.ru (via The Mac Life). “This is the first such event involving McGregor in Russia. Perhaps he will make statements about his imminent return to the Octagon.”

Fight fans hoping for some sort of definitive update on the Irishman’s return, or a potential rematch against Nurmagomedov, are likely to be disappointed. McGregor is there as an ambassador of online sports betting site Parimatch, who organized the event.

It would also stand to reason that McGregor will be pushing his Proper No. 12 whiskey, which proved to be a commercial success in spite of questionable reviews. Either way, it may be worth tuning in — if a live stream is made available — in case the Dagestani goon squad decides to crash the party.

It’s probably too early to know what questions media will be allowed to ask, if any, as McGregor is currently being named in a sexual assault case overseas. And I’d reckon that most people in attendance don’t care about gambling or whiskey, they just want to know if and when “Notorious” will fight again.

In the cage, not in the courtroom.
