Check out the blow-by-blow results for tonight’s Bellator 231 card, featuring the rematch between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson in the main event.

Join us tonight on Bloody Elbow for results, discussion and play-by-play for Bellator 231: Mir vs. Nelson 2. This five-fight main card will air live tonight on Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET, with prelims online in the video player below at 6 p.m. ET.

The event’s headliner will a rematch between a pair of MMA vets in Frank Mir and Roy Nelson. Before that, Bellator’s former light heavyweight champ, Phil Davis, welcomes Swedish prospect Karl Albrektsson to the promotion in the co-main event. Also on the card, blossoming up and comer, Ed Ruth, brings his three time collegiate wrestling chops to the cage to face Hard Knocks 365 fighter Jason Jackson. Making her promotional debut after a bare knuckle boxing stint, former UFC competitor gets back to MMA by facing Ilara Joanne at flyweight. Finally, former WWE champion Jake Hager takes his third professional MMA match to open the card when he squares off with Anthony Garrett.

Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson: Heavyweight

Rd.1-

Mir lands a right hand to start the bout. Nelson appears to be loading up his right hand. Roy pumps his jab. Inside leg kick scores for Mir, and again. Body cross lands for Nelson and then one to the face. Frank returns to the leg kick. Roy touches with an inside leg kick of his own. Roy jabs the body and Mir kicks the leg again. Mir goes back to the well and Roy clubs over the top with his right hand. Nelson misses with an uppercut. Mir hits with a right shovel punch and then another inside leg kick. Another inside leg attack hit the mark for Mir and then he throws a spinning kick to the body. Nelson just misses with his patented right hand. AN uppercut gets through for Roy.

Rd.2-

A cross to uppercut to cross lands for Frank. A hard right cross gets through for Nelson, but then misses an uppercut. Straight left scores for Mir. Roy complains about a low blow but the ref says to fight on. Nelson rips to the body. AN inside leg kick buckles Roy but he stands back up. Another straight left lands for Mir as he stands in the middle of the cage. Nelson misses with an overhand right and whiffs a ridge hand. Another inside leg kick hits home for Frank, and another one. He kicks again and Roy walks off the pain. Frank throws a spinning kick to the head but it grazes off the skull of Nelson. Another leg kick scores but Roy lands a right hand this time.

Rd.3-

Mir opens with another inside leg attack. He throws another and follows up with one to the head. Nelson just smiles. Roy throws an inside leg kick of his own. Mir hits a body kick but partially clips the jewels, causing a break in the action. The fight restarts and Frank returns to the inside leg kick, but adds a spinning elbow this time. Roy launches his right hand but misses again. Nelson feints the right and then scores with the right hand straight down the middle. They both land right hands to the face. Mir is bleeding from the nose now. Frank throws a cross and lands another leg kick. Roy misses with a high kick but lands his overhand right, without a ton of steam on it. Nelson grabs Mir and takes him down. He lands a few punches before the round ends.

Phil Davis vs. Karl Albrektsson: Light Heavyweight

Rd.1-

Albrektsson presses forward and they exchange jabs. Albrektsson lands an inside leg kick. A left hook just misses the chin of Davis. He follows up and lands a left. Albrektsson shoots in but ends up in a brief guillotine attempt. The return to open space. Another inside leg kick scores for Albrektsson. Davis whiffs a 1-2. They both pump their jabs. A cross sneaks in for Davis. Davis lands a set of counter lefts. Leg kick lands for Davis but eats a right hand because of it. Albrektsson sticks a hard outside leg kick. Davis blasts a takedown and lands a couple short punches. Albrektsson stands back up and they return to the center. Davis bails on a takedown but lands an uppercut. A counter left lands for Davis and then a leg kick scores.

Rd.2-

Left hook just misses for Albrektsson but an outside leg kick connects. Phil blocks a head kick. A ab lands for the Swede. A left misses but the right connects for Albrektsson. Karl pumps his jab. One of the jabs connects as Davis advances. A leaping left hand grazes his foe, and then he closes the distance. Davis lands a knee to the gut against the cage before breaking away. A BIG RIGHT HAND DROPS KARL! Albrektsson stands back up but Phil is attached to his back. Davis lifts him up and takes him down. Karl gets away with a fence grab, but Davis takes him down anyway. Big knees to the body score for Davis. Davis knees the face as Albrektsson stands up. Davis with another takedown. Albrektsson is up and Phil lands another knee to the body.

Rd.3-

Davis lands a right hand right away. He hits a jab. Inside leg kick touches the target for Albrektsson. Big whiffs from Albrektsson with his hooks. A body cross connects for King Karl and then one to the face. Teep to the gut gets through for Davis and then a knee. Karl is backpedaling. A big left hand snuffs Karl in the face. Davis gets another takedown and pounds away. He is all over Karl! The punches keep scoring as Karl is just covering up. Albrektsson stands up but gets taken right back down. More blows come flying down for Davis and the ref starts to warn Karl. Davis isn’t letting up. The referee stops it!

Ed Ruth vs. Jason Jackson: Welterweight

Rd.1-

Jab to the body hit for Jackson. He pumps the ab at Ruth. Up kick misses for Ruth and Jackson scores with a counter leg kick. Ruth double pumps the jab. He kicks the leg then misses upstairs. Jackson hits a clean right hand but Ruth wears it well. The double jab lands for Jackson and Ruth responds with a body kick. He tries again but eats a leg kick for his troubles. Jackson rocks Ruth with a heavy right hand. He goes in to follow up with a head kick but misses. Ruth seems to have recovered and lands a body kick. A stiff right hand gets through for Ruth and he starts to press forward. Jackson returns to the double jab. Ruth hits a takedown and starts to land punches as Jackson stands up. Another body kick for Ruth lands. Ruth blocks a head kick and Jackson pumps the jab. A big uppercut staggers Ruth.

Rd.2-

Ruth opens with a 1-2. A side kick touches the target for Ed. Jackson rips to the body with a pair of hooks. Uppercut to hook land for Jackson. Ruth shoots a poor takedown and almost eats a kick as he stands up. Ruth is pressuring. Double jab to cross scores for Ruth. Jackson blocks a head kick and lands a jab. Leg kick gets through for Ed but he eats a left hook right after. Ruth misses with a hook kick and eats another hook. He shoots in but fails. Ruth keeps up with the pressure. Jackson checks a kick and scores with another jab. Big body kick lands for Jackson and then a hook. Jackson sneaks in a two piece at the bell.

Rd.3-

Ruth comes out throwing kicks but eats a hard counter right hand. A BIG RIGHT HAND DROPS RUTH! Ed somehow recovers and starts throwing back. He presses forward. Ruth misses with a head kick. Jab scores for Ruth but he eats an uppercut. Jackson punches the body but misses upstairs. Jackson continues to stick and move, causing Ruth to whiff. A 1-2 misses for Ruth but he keeps marching forward. Jab to the gut hits for Jackson. Ruth shoots in and takes the back. Jackson stands to his feet and swims for underhooks. Ruth takes him back down. Jackson stands but gets taken down again. Ruth scores with short punches. Another takedown scores for Ruth. Rinse and repeat.

Bec Rawlings vs. Ilara Joanne: (W) Flyweight

Rd.1-

Joanne throws a hard right hand. She follows up and lands a right and then left hand. Joanne is pressing forward throwing a flurry. She then clinches up and hunts for the takedown. Bec gives it up and locks down half guard. Rawlings gains full guard and lands an elbow from her back. Joanne returns the elbow from the top. Joanne land sa few small punches but can’t generate much power because Bec is keeping her posture broken down. The referee stands them up. Joanne grazes Bec with a spinning back kick to the body. Rawlings misses with a cross and Joanne leaps in with a straight. Bec misses with another cross.

10-9 Joanne

Rd.2-

A heavy leg kick from Joanne buckles Bec and to the ground they go. Ilara passes into half guard and looks for an arm triangle. Rawlings is hip to it and thwarts the attempt. Bec scores with a set of elbows from her back. Bec scoots to the fence in an attempt to get up, but exposes her back. Joanne sinks one hook. Bec scrambles and then takes the back herself. Joanne rolls for a kneebar. BEC TAPS!!!! WOW!

Jake Hager vs. Anthony Garrett: Heavyweight

Rd.1-

Hager ties up but Garrett punches his way into open space. Hager reengages and pushes his foe against the fence. A knee to the midsection scores for Hager, but Garrett complains of a low blow. The referee says to fight on. Hager breaks away and throws a jab. Garrett lands a three piece before Hager briefly clinches up. From the Thai plum, Hager lands a set of knees to the body, and then one to the cup. The referee pauses the action. Th fight resumes and Garrett shoots for a takedown but gets stuffed. Hager lands another knee to the cup and Garrett hits the deck. The referee calls time once again and the doctor comes in to take a gander. The fight is called off and the crowd starts to boo in disappointment.
