Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC Fight Night Singapore: Maia vs. Askren
The UFC’s Singapore card for the year did not disappoint. It featured three submission victories, a TKO win, and eight decision verdicts including a controversial one in the main card.
Performance of the Night: Cyril Gane, Beneil Dariush
Cyril Gane was fresh off a first-round submission win last August during his UFC debut in Uruguay. A little over two months later, the French heavyweight once again wowed audiences with a last-minute submission victory over Dontale Mayes. After hurting Mayes with a body kick late in the third round, he secured a takedown and went for a heel hook. It sunk in well, causing Mayes to tap.

Beneil Dariush looked sharp in his fight against Frank Camacho. The long-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt exhibited crisp striking until he got the takedown. From there, he never relented his pace, until his grappling prowess eventually came out. He established back control, got both hooks in, and sank in the rear-naked choke inside two minutes of action.

Fight of the Night: Demian Maia vs. Ben Askren
Demian Maia and Ben Askren showed a different side of their game, holding the majority of the fight on the feet. The two grapplers exchanged thudding punches, with Askren cutting Maia up in the face.
Both fighters eventually locked horns in the third round, with Askren scoring a nice takedown. But Maia’s experience and Jiu-Jitsu expertise shined through, until he did what what was almost automatic to him: score a rear-naked choke finish off of back control with a body triangle.
Maia is now a three-fight win streak and both fighters take $50,000 for their efforts.
