The defending WBC heavyweight champ has opened up as a betting underdog to Tyson Fury in their potential rematch.
After successfully defending his WBC heavyweight crown with a seventh round KO of Luis Ortiz this past weekend, Deontay Wilder has opened up as the betting underdog to Tyson Fury for their rematch — which will likely happen on February 22, 2020. When asked about his next opponent in his post-fight interview, Wilder mentioned one name and one name only — Tyson Fury.
Despite Wilder’s sensational one-punch finish, online betting site SportsBetting.ag has his likely next opponent opening up with a favored moneyline of -125, with “The Bronze Bomber”sporting a dog tag of +105. This fight must take place in 2020 for action to be valid on this wager. No prop bets are available just yet for this highly anticipated rematch.
The first time these elite boxers went to war last December, and the 12-round war resulted in a controversial split draw. Back then, it was Wilder who was the odds-on favorite to win with bettors laying the price at -160. Fury played the role of underdog, rocking a plus value of +130. With the first bout ending without a clearcut winner, it seems pretty legit that this time around the betting lines are much tighter.
