Cody Garbrandt says T.J. Dillashaw wouldn’t be half the fighter he was without EPO.
Earlier this year, former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw voluntarily relinquished his bantamweight title after he was found guilty of using EPO — an injectable-only performance-enhancing drug — in his flyweight title bout with Henry Cejudo at UFC Fight Night 143.
Despite having an unfair advantage over Cejudo, Dillashaw lost the bout via first-round TKO and was suspended for two years by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
Dillashaw has since apologized for cheating and says he only used EPO on the one occasion, but former teammate turned rival Cody Garbrandt, who looked to appeal his two knockout losses to Dillashaw in light of TJ’s failed drug test, says the disgraced champion has been using performance-enhancing drugs his entire career.
In a recent Instagram story, ‘No Love’ said Dillashaw wouldn’t be half the fighter he was without using EPO (h/t Jon Fuentes of The Low Kick MMA).
Dillashaw, who KO’d Garbrandt in back-to-back fights at UFC 217 and UFC 227, is eligible to return to the Octagon on Jan. 19, 2021.
