Middleweights Antonio Carlos Junior and Brad Tavares will reportedly slug it out in Brazil on March 14.
A middleweight bout between The Ultimate Fighter veterans has reportedly been added to the upcoming UFC Brasilia card, in March. Per Combate’s Raphael Marinho, Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Antonio Carlos Junior will take on Brad Tavares in Brazil’s capital of Brasilia.
The heavyweight champion of TUF Brazil 3, Antonio Carlos Junior (10-4-1 NC) will look to snap a two-fight losing skid—having dropped decisions to Ian Heinisch and, back in September, Uriah Hall. The 29-year-old’s last win came in April 2018, when ‘Cara de Sapato’ tapped out Tim Boetsch via rear-naked choke.
TUF 11 vet Brad Tavares will also look to end his own bad run of performances. With back-to-back losses to Israel Adesanya and Edmen Shahbazyan—the latter via knockout back in November. The 31-year-old will try to score his first win since a TKO victory over Krzysztof Jotko, at UFC on FOX: Poirier vs. Gaethje in 2018.
The card is also expected to host a strawweight bout between Paige VanZant and Amanda Ribas. A main event has yet to be announced.
