Should Conor McGregor get a title shot if he beats Donald Cerrone? Justin Gaethje doesn’t agree with that.

Top UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje isn’t happy with Dana White recently staying Conor McGregor could get another title shot next if he is to beat Donald Cerrone in January.

Gaethje (21-2) has won his last three UFC fights all by first-round knockout. Starting with a win over James Vick in August last year, “The Highlight” has since finished both Edson Barboza and Cerrone, taking him to fourth in the UFC lightweight rankings.

Talking recently to BT Sport, White said if McGregor is to get past Cerrone on January 18th, and current champ Khabib Nurmagomedov defends his title against Tony Ferguson in April, then a rematch between McGregor and Khabib could be next. Gaethje didn’t like this at all:

“Lol at Dana White,” Gaethje wrote. “If Conor gets through Cowboy”… what a crock of sh-t.”

Gaethje explained to MMA Junkie why if McGregor is to get the next title shot, it completely messes up his plans, as he hoped to sit out and wait to fight the winner of Khabib vs. Ferguson in April.

“I think I’m the next guy in line,” Gaethje said. “The title fight is set, and somebody needs to fight the winner of that fight. So that’s me. I got in this sport for one reason, and that was to fight for a world title.”
