Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a new five-round featherweight headliner for its upcoming UFC Fight Night 165 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on ESPN+, scheduled for Sat., Dec. 21, 2019 inside Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea.
Originally topped by Brian Ortega vs. Chan Sung Jung, the promotion will now deliver Frankie Edgar to “The Korean Zombie” because Ortega was felled by injury and forced to withdraw. That means “The Answer” is unlikely to face Cory Sandhagen at UFC Raleigh in January.
His drop to bantamweight, however, is still part of the master plan.
“I don’t think I’ll get a title shot right away if I do win, just based off one win,” Edgar told Luke Thomas. “I’m not really expecting to fight for a title at (145). Would I turn it down? Absolutely not.”
