Colby Covington is fed up with being supposedly underpaid by the UFC.
Colby Covington has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the UFC with regards to money. In September, he detailed the supposed “hostage negotiation tactics” by company executives to get him to agree to fight Kamaru Usman at UFC 244 in November.
The matchup was eventually moved to headline UFC 245 this weekend. And win, lose, or draw, “Chaos” isn’t worried about his UFC career as he looks towards possibly delving into professional wrestling.
“No, I’m not happy with what I’m becoming compensated,” Covington told Ariel Helwani in a pre-fight interview (transcript by BJPenn.com). “I’m being underpaid, I’m being undervalued and if the UFC doesn’t pay up after this fight you’ll probably see me in WWE.
“This is it, I’m putting my foot down. I’m willing to retire on Saturday night after I win and go to WWE forever and leave this stupid corrupt business behind.”
UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
