Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight fan favorite, Mike Perry, is going to hunt down UFC 245 headliner, Colby Covington, and sucker punch “Chaos” when his back is turned, probably because it’s the best way to land a clean shot.
If you’re thinking that cheap shots are dishonorable and have no place in combat sports, then I will direct you to these comments Covington made about Perry and his then-girlfriend, Danielle Nickerson, who later became his “Platinum” bride.
“I think he is going to lose his fight on Saturday anyway, and he’s got protection,” Perry told ESPN (via Cole Shelton). “He’s got a babysitter at all times. It is not that I want to run up and say something to him. Everyone always says something to Colby, they warn him. I’m going to walk up behind him and hit him when he ain’t looking. I’m going to take my shot when I get a chance, you know what I mean. When he loses on Saturday and I win, let’s set that fight up. That’s the fight I want and that’s the fight I’ve been asking for. So, let’s make that happen.”
Perry (13-5) battles Geoff Neal at the UFC 245 pay-per-view (PPV) event this Sat. night (Dec. 14, 2019) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the same card featuring Covington’s title fight against reigning welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.
A win for Perry coupled with a loss for Covington, who may or may not defect to WWE after UFC 245, could very well set these two on a collision course in early 2020, though it sounds like “Platinum” is unwilling to wait until then.
