“He’s 1,000 percent positive, 1,000 percent motivated. He’s ready to go. He didn’t lose one piece of confidence in himself.”

Colby Covington might have suffered a broken jaw in his TKO loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 but, according to American Top Team (ATT) owner Dan Lambert, the former interim UFC welterweight champ can’t wait to get back in the Octagon.

Speaking to MMA Fighting in a recent interview, Lambert admitted he was initially worried how Covington would handle the loss to Usman but is happy to report that ‘Chaos’ is more motivated than ever to get back in the gym and begin correcting his mistakes.

“He is a 10 out of 10 as far as what I would hope his mindset would be after a fight like that,” Lambert said. “He wants to get right back in. He wants to get right back into training. He wants to get back into training as soon as he’s ready health wise. He wants to get back and prove that he’s the best.

“You never know how a fighter’s going to respond to something like that. When I first talked to him, I had my concerns cause you just never know. I could not have scripted his response any better than what I heard from him. He’s 1,000 percent positive, 1,000 percent motivated. He’s ready to go. He didn’t lose one piece of confidence in himself.”

Due to the severity of Covington’s injury, the 31-year-old is likely to be out of action until the second quarter of 2020. Covington is reported to have broken his jaw at some point in the third round but somehow continued into the fourth and fifth rounds before Usman eventually finished him with strikes in the final minute of the last round.
