There were many changes in the UFC rankings following UFC 245.
UFC 245 sure shook things up. One new champ, a bunch of new contenders, and a top-ranked fighter changing divisions sent a shock through the UFC rankings, with eight of the eleven divisions seeing changes after the big PPV. Alexander Volkanovski is now on the P4P list. Irene Aldana’s big win has her in reach of a women’s bantamweight title shot. And Kamaru Usman is still the welterweight king.
Here’s a look at all the changes this week.
P4P – Holloway dropped five big spots after his title loss, from seven to 12. Israel Adesanya is up one spot to seven. Usman is up two spots to eight after his successful title defense. Volkanovski enters the list at nine. Tony Ferguson falls one spot to ten. Dustin Poirier falls three spots from 12 to 15.
Heavyweight – No changes.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Uriah Hall and Brad Tavares are up one spot each to 10 and 11. Ian Heinisch falls two spots to 12 following his loss to Omari Akhmedov, who is up one spot to 13. Antonio Carlos Junior falls one to 14.
Welterweight – Geoff Neal is up two spots to 12 after being the first name to stop Mike Perry via strikes. Gilbert Burns and Vicente Luque fell one spot each to 13 and 14.
Lightweight – Justin Gaethje is up one spot into a tie for three with the man he wants to fight very badly, Conor McGregor.
Featherweight – New champ. Holloway is the number one contender. Jose Aldo falls five spots to eight as he is out of the division now. Five fighters – Zabit Magomedsharipov, Frankie Edgar, Yair Rodriguez, Chan Sung Jung, and Renato Moicano – are all up a spot each to three through seven respectively. Ryan Hall is up one spot to 14, bumping Arnold Allen to 15.
Bantamweight – Petr Yan is up a spot to three after beating up Urijah Faber. Cory Sandhagen is down one to four. Aldo enters the list at nine. Rob Font, Cody Stamann, John Dodson, Song Yadong, Casey Kenney, and Marlon Vera are all down a spot each to 10 through 15.
Flyweight – Kai Kara-France drops two spots to eight following his loss to Brandon Moreno.
Women’s Bantamweight – Aspen Ladd is up one spot to two. Julianna Pena is up one to four. Aldana’s pretty TKO finish of the returning Ketlen Vieira sent her up five spots to a tie for five with Raquel Pennington. Vieira drops five spots to seven. Yana Kunitskaya, Marion Reneau, and Sara McMann fell a spot each to eight through ten.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
