Frankie Edgar shows class in defeat, as always.
In just two weeks’ notice, former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar decided step in as a replacement to face “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung at UFC Busan on Saturday. Unfortunately for him, things did not go accordingly for him, as he ended up losing via first-round TKO.
“The Answer” was dropped by a left hand, and ended up underneath Chan’s back control. While he did get the fight back on the feet for a brief moment, he was once again sent to the canvass, which urged the referee to stop the fight.
Edgar is known as a classy competitor in victory and defeat, and it showed in his post-fight statement via Twitter.
Well not what I had planned coming out here to South Korea, but win like a man and lose like one too. Hats off to the @KoreanZombie on a great performance. I think it may be time to cut this damn hair. Thank you to my family, team, and fans for the love and support. #Fe

The 38-year-old Edgar is now on a two-fight skid, a first since 2012. He was supposed to make his bantamweight debut in January against Cory Sandhagen, both those plans were pushed back because of his decision to step in for UFC Busan. He is, however, still planning to drop down to bantamweight and possibly fight for the 135-pound title in the near future.
