Cory Sandhagen was taken out of the UFC Raleigh fight card and now wants a top contender for his next fight.

Cory Sandhagen lost an opponent for UFC Raleigh when Frankie Edgar decided to step in as a last-minute replacement to fight at UFC Busan on Saturday. On Monday, it was reported that the number four-ranked bantamweight contender has been taken out of the card.

MMA Fighting confirmed the news through a text message sent by Sandhagen. In a subsequent Instagram post, “The Sandman” also mentioned he’s willing to wait for his next fight, as long as it’s against a top contender.

UFC Raleigh is scheduled to take place on January 25th. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and former champion Junior dos Santos.
