Canelo Alvarez would consider a boxing match with UFC BMF champ Jorge Masvidal.
Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez seems to have changed his mind about a possible boxing-MMA crossover fight with UFC ‘BMF’ champ Jorge Masvidal.
Masvidal called out Canelo after beating Nate Diaz to win the BMF belt last month, but Alvarez claimed ‘Gamebred’ wouldn’t pose any challenge to him in the boxing ring and said he isn’t interested in any kind of crossover fight at this stage of his career.
Speaking to TMZ Sports in a recent interview, however, Alvarez appears to have done a 180. The four-division boxing world champ said he would be willing to box Masvidal, but for the right price.
“For business, why not?!” Canelo said when asked about a possible crossover boxing match with Masvidal.
Alvarez, 29, last fought in the boxing ring on Nov. 2, where he knocked out Sergey Kovalev in the 11th round to win the WBO light heavyweight title.
As for Masvidal, the No. 3-ranked UFC welterweight is currently weighing up his options. The 35-year-old has called out boxers Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather Jr., promised to ‘baptise’ Conor McGregor and hinted at a championship showdown with Kamaru Usman.
