In the latest installment of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) “Decade in Review” series, the promotion highlights some of the most electrifying moments that took place inside the Octagon back in 2017.
The year featured several of big moments, including Francis Ngannou’s devastating knockout over Alistair Overeem at UFC 218, which saw “The Predator” flatten “The Reem” with one of the nastiest uppercuts you’ve ever seen. Also, Rose Namajunas became the women’s Strawweight champion by knocking out Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217.
Also, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS) debuted that year, which featured the emergence of one Sean O’ Malley. Plus, Justin Gaethje finally made his UFC debut in 2017, knocking out Michael Johnson in an incredible back-and-forth fight.
And of course, the year was highlighted by the biggest crossover event in combat sports history, as Conor McGregor made the leap over to the boxing world to face Floyd Mayweather. Prior to the event, the two men embarked on a world tour to promote the fight, which featured several memorable moments.
Once inside the ring, McGregor stood toe-to-toe with arguably the best boxer of this generation before getting stopped by “Money.” Also, Georges St-Pierre made his long-awaited return to the cage at UFC 217 to defeat Michael Bisping to win the Middleweight title.
Can you think of any moments in 2017 that should’ve made the cut?
