One of the better fights on the UFC Raleigh undercard has been scrapped.
A top-15 featherweight matchup between Josh Emmett and Arnold Allen is no longer happening.
MMA Junkie reported earlier this week that a training injury has forced Emmett to withdraw from his scheduled January 25th showdown with the upstart Englishman. There’s no word yet on whether or not Allen will remain on the UFC Raleigh card, which streams live on ESPN+.
Emmett (15-2) has won his last two contests, most recently scoring a first-round TKO of Mirsad Bektic at UFC Sacramento. The hard-hitting Californian also knocked out Michael Johnson last year, bouncing back from a scary KO defeat to Jeremy Stephens that shelved him for the rest of 2018.
Allen (15-1) is riding an eight-fight winning streak, with six of them coming under the UFC banner. His last fight saw him pick apart Gilbert Melendez to win a one-sided unanimous decision at UFC 239 in Las Vegas. He also notably handed Makwan Amirkhani his first UFC loss, getting a split decision nod back in 2017.
UFC Raleigh is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos. The co-main event pits former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos against Michael Chiesa in a welterweight contest.
