Lightweights Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira will reportedly fight at UFC Brasilia, on March 14.
It seems Charles Oliveira’s team will get their wish.
A few days after the Brazilian’s manager expressed his desire for ‘Do Bronx’ to headline the upcoming UFC Brasilia card either against Justin Gaethje or Kevin Lee, Combate reported that, in fact, the ‘Motown Phenom’ will take on the Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert at the card’s main event.
Currently on a six-fight winning streak, with all victories coming by way of knockout or submission, Charles Oliveira (28-8-1 NC) defeated notable names such as Clay Guida, Jim Miller, and David Teymur in his past outings and will now finally get the chance to take on a top-10 opponent. The 30-year-old’s last loss happened in December 2017, when he was TKO’d by Paul Felder.
After dropping back-to-back bouts to both former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos and top contender Al Iaquinta, Kevin Lee (18-5) returned to the win column in highlight reel fashion, knocking out rising prospect Gregor Gillespie with a powerful head kick at UFC 244, marking his return to 155 after a brief stint at welterweight.
Now, Kevin Lee is expected to take on Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 170’s main event, in Brasilia, Brazil, on March 14 on ESPN+. The card’s co-main event is scheduled to be a welterweight bout between jiu-jitsu specialists Demian Maia and Gilbert Burns.
