Top welterweights are on tap to headline UFC London in March.

According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto the UFC has booked Tyron Woodley vs. Leon Edwards to headline their March 21st event in London, England. Okamoto cited UFC President Dana White as his source for the information.

The bout promises a friendly atmosphere for the Birmingham-based Edwards, who currently sits 4th in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. The 18-3 fighter is currently on an 8-fight winning streak. His last three victories were over fellow-top contenders Rafael dos Anjos, Gunnar Nelson and Donald Cerrone.

Edwards’ last loss inside the cage came all the way back in 2015. That’s when he dropped a unanimous decision to current 170 lb champion Kamaru Usman.

Tyron Woodley’s (19-4-1) last defeat came to Kamaru Usman, too. That was only in March, 2019. Usman claimed the belt in that fight and Woodley hasn’t fought since.

Prior to dropping his title to Usman, Woodley defended the welterweight crown versus Darren Till, Damien Maia and Stephen Thompson (twice). He won the title from Robbie Lawlor at UFC 201 in 2016.

UFC London is scheduled for the O2 Arena. The event currently boasts Darren Stewart vs. Marvin Vettori (middleweight), Paul Craig vs. Ryan Spann (light heavyweight) and Molly McCann vs. Ashlee Evans-Smith (flyweight).
