Bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo might get his wish to defend his title against Jose Aldo in Brazil.

It still is under negotiation, but it seems Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo will get their wish after all. Per Combate’s report, a title fight between the UFC bantamweight champion and the former featherweight title holder is in the works for UFC 250, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 9.

After all the trash talk that has been going on between both men, even though Aldo lost his bantamweight debut to Marlon Moraes, Combate’s report says that both men are willing to fight at the date and are currently negotiating payments before signing the deal for the pay per view main event.

Currently on a five-fight winning streak, Henry Cejudo (15-2) holds wins over Wilson Reis, Sergio Pettis, Demetrious Johnson, T.J. Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes in his last outings. Stripped from his flyweight title due to inactivity, and now only a bantamweight champion, the 32-year-old’s last loss happened in December 2016, when he dropped a split decision to Joseph Benavidez.

After an unsuccessful bantamweight debut, where he lost to Marlon Moraes via split decision, Jose Aldo (28-6) arrives at the potential fight on a two-fight losing streak, with a unanimous decision defeat to now featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski prior to the Moraes defeat. The 33-year-old’s last win came in February 2019, when he TKO’d contender Renato Moicano at UFC Fortaleza.

Should the fight be confirmed, it would headline UFC 250, on May 9, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. So far, no other bouts have been announced for the same date.
