Masvidal’s decision to wear the same Versace robe McGregor once wore left the Irish fighter scratching his head.
One of the big questions leading up to UFC 246 was whether Conor McGregor would call out BMF belt holder Jorge Masvidal, a fight most fans agree is one of the most exciting possibilities for the Irish sports star. Masvidal had been asked about it in the weeks leading up to McGregor’s fight, and he was on hand ringside just in case “The Notorious” made the challenge.
Alas, McGregor aired a laundry list of possible opponents instead and declared he’d take them all on eventually. We left the weekend with even less certainty on a Masvidal vs. McGregor fight than we entered with.
As far as UFC president Dana White is concerned, the next fight for Masvidal is welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. And McGregor? He was just confused by Jorge’s decision to wear the same kind of Versace robe that Conor wore during the open workout for the Mayweather fight.

”Yeah I don’t know what that was about,” McGregor told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani in his locker room after the fight. “Talk about baloney, because that looked ridiculous to me. Was it my actual robe? It’s the black one. It was ridiculous carrying on, what that was about? I don’t know, that’s a bit weird. I don’t give a f**k, whatever.”
McGregor once again re-affirmed that he was willing to face Masvidal, but the robe wasn’t doing much for him.

”No problem. We can do that, no problem,” he said. “Is he trying to get my attention? What kind of underwear was he wearing, do you know what I mean? I don’t know what that means. A bleedin’ housecoat. The grannies in Ireland wear housecoats watching the soaps, the soap opera shows. Me nanny wears that. I don’t know what that was about.”
He might not like the robe, but he was still interested in the BMF belt.
I’d like to scoop up [that BMF belt],” he told reporters at the UFC 246 post fight press conference when asked about fighting Masvidal. “That’s not a great belt, is it? But I’ll still take it. Take it and add it to the list, y’know.”
”Wasn’t a good night for Jorge if you ask me. All the best to him … God loves a tryer.”
