Conor McGregor isn’t letting his recent losses define him.
Prior to his impressive win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on Saturday, Conor McGregor endured losses over the course of the last couple years. Those defeats came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Khabib Nurmagomedov, respectively.
But as he is brash in victory, he is humble and gracious in defeat. McGregor has always accepted his losses openly, and refuses to let them define his career.
“Come on, now, I lost bleeding twice,” McGregor told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani during a post-fight backstage interview. “I lost in a boxing match and then I tapped in an MMA fight.
“I’ve never really been beaten, let’s be real. You’ve never seen me beat. You beat a man by concussing him with blows to the nut. Putting him down.
“Two matches,” he continued. “That narrative of it’s been so long… it’s just because I’ve been outside of the game sporadic in my commitment to it. So it’s good to be back most certainly.”
McGregor has been angling a possible fight against Jorge Masvidal, but UFC president Dana White prefers a rematch between him and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
