Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
This is the type of “weird and wild” spectacle I like best, a friendly gym throw down! Dueling with his girlfriend — 6-3 amateur Atomweight Elle Wagman — as well as former professional Atomweight/current UFC reporter Laura Sanko, Featherweight prospect Grant Dawson wrestled the pair at the same time … and won.

This video is both hilarious and somewhat informative. For one, I greatly appreciate the effort these two women put into winning. They really tried to crank on his neck and make him miserable, and perhaps with better planning, they could have won. At the same time, Dawson did a lot of things correctly, looking to separate the pair and using one foe to shield himself from the other.
When he’s not landing armbars on people smaller than him, Dawson is 14-1 as a professional and undefeated at 2-0 inside the Octagon. He was supposed to fight Chas Skelly last weekend at UFC 246 before being forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons. Since then, the bout has been re-booked for UFC “Norfolk” on February 29th.
Insomnia
Robert Whittaker says the report about his daughter’s health and bone marrow donation are FALSE. It seems like The Sun (the original source behind my write up on the topic) did not have a source after all …

Is Daniel Cormier vs. Stipe Miocic 3 not yet set in stone?

I like this potential match up a lot, but only if the winner is guaranteed a big name opponent.

Slips, rips, and KO clips
Man, it’s really tough to pull off this kind of choke without the assistance of a gi. I don’t have any real technical insight here — it was probably a neck crank that did not feel good!

This corkscrew uppercut landed perfectly and looked immensely painful.
Good luck guessing who wins this war of elbows:

Maybe ease up on the gas there a bit, Speed Racer.

Midnight Music: Weyes Blood’s Titanic Rising was one of the prettiest albums of 2019, a great chamber pop record.
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
