After injuring her arm for the third time, Paige VanZant has released a statement and a timeline for her return.

Paige VanZant has spoken about the third injury to her right arm, which has plagued her MMA career now for over two years.

VanZant first broke her arm back in her flyweight debut against Jessica-Rose Clark back in January 2018. After taking a year away from the cage to recover, she hurt it again in her fight against Rachael Ostovich the following January.

The 25-year-old was hoping to return to in March at UFC Brasilia after another year off, but it was recently announced a third injury to her arm forced her out of a fight with Amanda Ribas. VanZant released a statement on Instagram about her withdrawal from the fight.

“Yes, I fractured my arm again,” VanZant wrote in her post. “No, this isn’t the end of my story. This is a very small fracture and will only take six-to-eight weeks to heal. My doctor said I will be back ready to take a fight in May.

“This is the second time I broke through a screw hole where my plate in my arm is, third break in a third spot. I know I need to adjust my training now that I have a permanent plate and screws in there. I will make those adjustments and I will return successfully just as I have before.”

UFC Brasilia takes place on March 14th and will be headlined by a lightweight fight between Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira. Randa Markos will fill in for VanZant to face Ribas.
