The UFC has decided to add a women’s P4P list to their rankings page.
Coming out of UFC Raleigh, it seemed that only one division would get a major shakeup. Michael Chiesa’s impressive decision win over Rafael dos Anjos in the co-main event established him as a credible threat at 170 and allowed him to jump right into the top ten of the division. A win by flyweight Alex Perez also moved him up a few spots in that weight class.
But that isn’t the story of this rankings update. This is all about a new pound-for-pound list dedicated to female UFC fighters.
The division of P4P into genders led to some minor changes on the men’s list. As for the women, it’s not surprising that the P4P list would be topped by Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko. But where did everyone else stack up? See below for the answer.
Here are all the changes for this week.
Men’s P4P – The ladies being removed from the old unified list led to some movement and new additions. Daniel Cormier, Israel Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, and Alexander Volkanovski all moved up one each to five through eight. Conor McGregor is up two to nine. Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier, and Tyron Woodley are all up two each to 11 through 13. Robert Whittaker re-enters the list at 14. Jorge Masvidal makes his P4P debut at 15.
Heavyweight – Derrick Lewis fell from a tie for five to take over the six spot on his own.
Light Heavyweight – Volkan Oezdemir and Alexander Gustafsson flip-flopped the seven and eight spots.
Middleweight – Omari Akhmedov is up one to 12, bumping Ian Heinisch to 13.
Welterweight – Chiesa’s win jumbled everything up. Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson are up one each to five and six. Chiesa enters at seven. Dos Anjos falls three spots to eight. Nate Diaz, Robbie Lawler, and Geoff Neal all fell a spot each to nine through 11. Anthony Pettis is down two to 13. Vicente Luque and Conor McGregor fell a spot each to 14 and 15.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – Calvin Kattar is up one to ten. Jose Aldo falls two to 11 since he’s at 135 now. Arnold Allen re-enters the rankings at 15.
Bantamweight – Aldo is up one to seven, bumping injured Jimmie Rivera to eight. Song Yadong is up one to 12, while John Dodson is down one to 13.
Flyweight – Perez moves up three spots to nine after a nice win over Jordan Espinosa. Matt Schnell, Tim Elliott, and Espinosa are all down a spot to ten through 12.
Women’s P4P – Nunes is the cream of the crop at one, followed by Shevchenko and Weili Zhang. Jessica Andrade, Rose Namajunas, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk occupy four through six. Holly Holm is at seven, Germaine de Randamie sits at eight, and Tatiana Suarez sits at nine. Katlyn Chookagian rounds out the top ten. Aspen Ladd, Jessica Eye, Julianna Pena, Claudia Gadelha, and Nina Ansaroff are ranked at 11 through 15.
Women’s Bantamweight – Sara McMann is up one to nine. Marion Reneau is down one to ten.
Women’s Flyweight – Antonina Shevchenko and Montana De La Rosa flipped the 11 and 12 spots. Poliana Botelho enters at 15.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
