Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes
The Toyota Center in Houston, TX was home to an exciting night of fights. The card saw five (T)KOs, two submissions and seven decisions, including four split-decisions to round out the night.
The main even was a hard fought affair that saw Jon Jones more mortal than we’ve seen to date. Reyes came out swinging heavy leather and landing frequently, and he was also able to fend Jones off in close quarters, being taken down only briefly before regaining his footing just seconds later. Jones picked up speed a bit in the latter rounds, having conserved his energy better, but Reyes gave him several punishing moments. When it was all said and done, it was Jon Jones who would leave with the unanimous decision victory.
Fight of the Night: Trevin Giles vs. James Krause
Youssef Zalal (30-27, 30-27, 30-27), Andre Ewell (29-28, 28-29, 30-27), Lauren Murphy (29-28, 28-29, 30-27), Trevin Giles (29-28, 28-29, 29-28), Derrick Lewis (29-28, 29-28, 29-28), Dan Ige (28-29, 29-28, 29-28), Jon Jones (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) but it would be Trevin Giles’ action-packed fight with James Krause (who moved up a weight class and took the fight on just 30 hrs notice!) that would take fight of the night honors.
Performance of the Night: Mario Bautista, Khaos Williams
Journey Newson (KO (punches), :38 of round 1), Mario Bautista (TKO (knee and punches), 1:41 of round 2), Kalinn Williams (KO (punches), :27 of round 1), Justin Tafa (TKO (punches). Round 1, 1:59), Valentina Shevchenko (TKO (punches from crucifix position) 1:03, Round 3), but only Mario Bautista and Kalinn Williams would take home $50K bonuses.
