Jon Jones took to social media to give his explanation of how he won a close decision over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. And then deleted some of it.
In the UFC 247 headliner, Jon Jones narrowly got past Dominick Reyes to retain his UFC light heavyweight title. Many who watched the bout thought that Reyes took the first three rounds, and Jones took the final two. But all three judges disagreed, with one judge actually giving Jones a 49-46 score.
In the aftermath of the fight, Jones was saying that he won because of his wrestling more than anything. Now, as he likes to do, the champ has taken to Twitter to give a more detailed explanation of how he came out of Houston with the belt still around his waist.
And then deleted some of it.
Dominic out struck me by literally 12 shots. I scored the take downs, was the aggressor, control the octagon every round, had more significant strikes landed.. Dom completely stopped fighting in the championship rounds and has the audacity to be mad at the judges. ???

Don’t be mad at the judges, be mad at Dom’s conditioning guy. man started to give up when the water got deep and is now going around doing interviews talking about being robbed. When will these young boys start taking responsibility ??? that’s what’s wrong with boys these days.

He then veers the conversation towards why he likes having those types of fights, and patted himself on the back a little for good measure:
At the end of the day, I got to be a part of another classic. I’m over here in ABQ smiling from ear to ear. Having fights like that tickles my pickle, it makes me feel so alive. Makes me feel like a man. Especially when you display having balls the way I did, nothing but a win

And took a shot at his haters, of course.
And I know my haters are pissed, which also makes me really happy lol

Fights like those are the ones fans never forget. What a way to make history

This is where the tweets turn to screen captures, since he deleted these two soon after posting them:
Then he went back to tweets that he left up:
This will probably be one of the only times I defend myself about the fight. just glad it has everyone talking..

I don’t think people realize how many ways this has been a blessing for me. Humbling, record-breaking, financially, a new rival, got to bring out the dog. #UFC247 is what it’s all about

Jones (26-1, 1 NC, 20-1, 1 NC UFC) could possibly rematch Reyes next, though UFC president Dana White didn’t lean that way at the post-fight press conference. Jones seems open to it though:
Someone tell uncle Dana to give me a call https://t.co/kSOx5PgI3h
