Nathias Frederick | Dolly Clew/Cage Warriors
The Team Renegade product looks to establish himself as one of the best middleweights in Europe on April 18 at Arena Birmingham.
Nathias Frederick’s first defense of his newly-won Cage Warriors middleweight title is set.
He will look to turn back the challenge of Greece’s Andreas Michailidis in his hometown of Birmingham, England on April 18. The promotion announced the booking in a press release on Monday morning. Cage Warriors 114 will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass and will emanate from Arena Birmingham in a city which has become a key market for the organisation.
Frederick (8-2-1) burst onto the Cage Warriors scene when he fought to a controversial majority draw against then champion, James Webb, at the promotion’s Night of Champions event last June. He was awarded an immediate rematch and took full advantage of that opportunity when he stopped Webb due to strikes in the fourth round to claim the belt. The Team Renegade product is on a nine-fight undefeated streak and has finished 7 of his 8 professional victories by TKO, thus highlighting the power he possesses in his hands.
Michailidis (12-3) will be making his promotional debut off the back of three, first-round stoppage wins. The 31-year-old is well-travelled and has competed for promotions including Bellator, FNG and Titan FC. Michailidis trains out of EFL Academy in Greece and Sweden’s All Stars Training Centre – home to UFC fighters Alexander Gustafsson and Ilir Latifi. He holds victories over Bellator’s Ion Pascu and UFC veteran, Marcel Fortuna. All three of Michailidis’ defeats have been due to strikes so he will have to be wary of Frederick’s power.
