A UFC flyweight matchup between Jennifer Maia and Viviane Araujo has been agreed on for Fight Night card in June.
An all Brazilian women’s flyweight matchup is in the works for a yet to be announced UFC Fight Night card in June, as Jennifer Maia is scheduled to meet Viviane Araujo.
A recent report from Combate revealed the matchup. It also said the event is expected to take place in Austin, Texas. The UFC last visited Austin in February 2018.
Maia (17-6-1) will hope to bounce back to winning form in the Octagon against Araujo after missing weight and losing her last outing to Katlyn Chookagian by decision last November. Ranked at the number four spot in the division, Maia has gone 2-2 since singing for the UFC back in 2018. The Brazilian has missed weight for her last two flyweight fights against Chookagian and Roxanne Modafferi.
Araujo (8-2) joined the UFC roster after impressing for Pancrase in Japan by winning the strawweight title in the promotion. After starting off her UFC career with a KO win at 135-pounds Araujo then moved down to flyweight for her next two fights, winning a decision against Alexis Davis and losing one to Jessica Eye.
UFC Austin is expected to take place at the Frank Erwin Centre in Austin, Texas on June 27th. No other fights have been targeted to take place on the card.
