‘Robocop’ Roberto Soldic is set for the second title defense of his current championship reign against former DREAM champion, Strikeforce, and Bellator vet Marius Zaromskis on March 21 in Lodz, Poland.
KSW 53: Fight Code continues to fill out and a title clash between heavy-hitting welterweights will co-headline the event.
Knockout artist and current KSW champion, Roberto Soldic, faces MMA veteran, Marius Zaromskis at Atlas Arena—which has opened the promotion’s yearly schedule for the past few years. The organization announced the booking via a tweet on Thursday. KSW 53: Fight Code takes place on Saturday, March 21 in Lodz, Poland and will be available to purchase at KSWTV.com.
Soldic (17-3) is regarded as one of the hottest prospects on the European scene and is currently in possession of the KSW welterweight belt for the second time. The 25-year-old avenged the only loss of his run in the promotion when he knocked out Dricus Du Plessis at KSW 45 in October 2018. Since then, he’s registered first round stoppages against Vinicius Bohrer and Krystian Kaszubowski but hasn’t officially retained his title as many times as he would have liked because of last minute changes in opponent leading to catchweight bouts.
Zaromskis (21-9, 1NC) is arguably Soldic’s most well-known international opponent to date and is looking to capture gold in his KSW debut. The Lithuanian has competed for a range of different promotions including Strikeforce and Bellator where he shared the cage with the likes of Nick Diaz, Andrey Koreshkov and Nordine Taleb. After spending more than four years away from MMA competition, Zaromskis made a comeback in May 2019 and registered a first round TKO victory against Aliaksandr Danilchenko.
With this announcement, the KSW 53: Fight Code card is as follows:
Heavyweight Main Event – Mariusz Pudzianowski vs. Quentin Domingos
Welterweight Title – Roberto Soldic (c) vs. Marius Zaromskis
