UFC featherweight Renato Moicano can’t understand why Jose Aldo is getting a title shot on the back of two losses.

Renato Moicano thinks the UFC have made a mistake booking Jose Aldo against bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo next.

Aldo (28-6) is riding consecutive losses for the second time in his career. A decision loss to now featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski prompted Aldo’s move to 135-pounds, where he lost a close split decision to Marlon Moraes in his debut. Despite this the UFC decided to book Aldo against Cejudo over more worthy contenders such as Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling.

Talking recently to BJPenn.com, Aldo’s former foe Moicano explained why he thinks the booking doesn’t make sense.

“It is crazy. I watched his last fight against Marlon and I thought Marlon clearly won that fight. It is not good that he is getting a title shot coming from two losses,” Moicano said. “I just don’t know if it is the right move, but I don’t know how the business is. It isn’t a smart decision but the UFC knows how to do things. That is why they are the best promotion in MMA.

“I really don’t know because it isn’t my division. But, if I was someone like Yan or Sterling, someone on a streak of wins, I would for sure be upset about Aldo getting the shot,” he explained. “I would be angry about that.”

Aldo will try to dethrone bantamweight champion Cejudo at UFC 250 on May 9th in São Paulo, Brazil.
