Neither Weili Zhang nor Joanna Jedrzejczyk suffered any serious injuries in their Fight of the Night bout at UFC 248.
With both Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk bloodied and battered after their five round slugfest at UFC 248, it’s difficult to believe both women walked away from the Octagon scot-free.
Zhang suffered cuts and bruises to her eyes and nose but it was Joanna who came out of the bout looking worse for wear, as the former UFC strawweight champ suffered huge swelling to her forehead and looked almost unrecognizable in her post-fight interview.
Zhang and Joanna were both admitted to the hospital immediately after the bout but ESPN’s Ariel Helwnai reports that neither woman sustained any serious injuries.

Zhang (21-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) beat Jedrzejczyk (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) via split decision to retain her strawweight title and both women were awarded a well-deserved $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus for putting on one of the best title fights in MMA history.
Zhang, who is the first ever Chinese champion in UFC history, is currently ranked #3 in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings.
