Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Professional YouTuber and professional boxer, Logan Paul, has talked quite a bit about making the crossover to MMA. Paul has met with Bellator boss Scott Coker to discuss a potential future there, and he’s also been discussed as a possible opponent for CM Punk.

In the video above, Paul trains with top-ranked UFC Middleweight Paulo Costa, who was last seen jawing at Middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya after his title defense on Saturday night. Costa is next-in-line for a shot at 185-pound gold, but he took some time out of his busy schedule to school Paul in the world of MMA. Oh, and Bruce Buffer is there as a witness!

The full video is featured above, but here’s a clip of the knockdown. I’ll leave you all to judge its authenticity:

To misquote the funniest thing Johnny Knoxville ever said, “Is Paulo okay?”

Possibly fake knockout aside, Paul does appear to actually be pretty slick on the mat. He was a successful high school wrestler in Ohio, which is not at all an easy wrestling state. Costa’s coach, the legendary Wallid Ismail, certainly seemed impressed, telling Paul, “You’re going to fight for sure.”

It remains to be seen if Paul will commit to a cage fight, but he’s almost definitely better prepared for a sport that allows him to wrestle rather than solely strike. Either way, there’s huge money in these bouts, so don’t expect them to stop any time soon.

Insomnia

This is a 100% accurate representation of Saturday’s Suga Show.

Side steps for days:

It’s a bold move to call out Dominick Cruz in 2020. Sandhagen had best be prepared for a replacement opponent even if he gets his wish!

The contrast between Chan Sung Jung’s friendly smiling picture and his aggressive wording is terrifying.

This is the weirdest video, why does it keep cutting strangely as Yoel turns the corner?

This is always a fun game, and restricting it to the One Championship roster is an interesting challenge that helps switch up the standard picks.

Is this the corniest comic I’ve ever seen? Quite possibly. It feels like a motivational poster one would find in UFC’s Human Resources office.

A punch can still carry huge power even if thrown loosely.

Remember when people used to argue that elbow can only cut people, not hurt them?

This just seems to be a very big mismatch in terms of physicality and strength.

Random Land

That is a gigantic human.

Midnight Music: I always enjoy when I hear a new song that 1) I already previously know from a sample or 2) samples a song I previously knew! Discover Weekly introduced me to Mr Twin Sister’s “Meet The Frownies,” a song sampled heavily by Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre’s California anthem “The Recipe.”

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
