UFC President Dana White was pretty confident that he could book an immediate rematch between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes after “Bones” narrowly escaped the UFC 247 light heavyweight main event last month in Houston, Texas.

But the funny thing about fight contracts is that they require two signatures.

That’s why Reyes’ teammate, Sam Alvey, believes Jones will instead fight top contender Jan Blachowicz, leaving “The Devastator” to find another available opponent, like 205-pound veteran Corey Anderson, who is also coming off a loss.

“I don’t think he is getting the rematch,” Alvey told BJPenn.com. “Jon wants Blachowicz. I think we will see Blachowicz get Jones and we will see Reyes fight Corey Anderson. Anderson doesn’t want to fight Dom but he doesn’t have a choice. If and when he beats Corey, Dom will get the rematch. Although I think Dom won the fight and deserves an immediate rematch, all signs point to it not happening, unfortunately.”

Jones (26-1, 1 NC) is expected to make his UFC return this summer.

Blachowicz (26-8) has won three straight and seven of his last eight, but is also competing against Thiago Santos in the Jones sweepstakes. “Marreta,” like Reyes, nearly broke “Bones” when they went to war last July.

2020 is going to be a very interesting year for the 205-pound weight class.
