Lost in translation?
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion, Renan Pegado, denies signing with Serbian Battle Championship (SBC), despite a recent social media post that suggested “Barao” was on the hook for multiple fights.
Turns out those appearances are for an ambassador role only.
“I didn’t sign any contract, I just went to the guest event,” Pegado told Globo’s Combate. “I took a picture because I was part of that event, but not as an event athlete, but just a participation. At the moment I’m not negotiating with any [promotion]. I’m just training, a lot of jiu-jitsu, and organizing some personal things in my life.”
Pegado (34-9, 1 NC) was released by UFC back in December after losing five straight and seven of his last eight. The 33 year-old Brazilian was once ranked No. 1 in the world at 135 pounds and No. 3 pound-for-pound.
How the mighty have fallen.
