Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Colby Covington, during one of his “please pay attention to me” moments on Submission Radio, told the combat sports community that American Top Team (ATT) teammate, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, was a “side piece” for his former best friend, Jorge Masvidal.

Probably because a low-rent carny like Covington doesn’t understand that pointing and laughing is not the same as developing a humorous point of view. The latter takes insight and intelligence, among other things, and not just a steady stream of slime like the Ghostbusters found under the New York Pneumatic Railway.

“He’s lying,” Jedrzejczyk told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast. “I don’t know why he’s such a big liar and I don’t want to waste my time talking about him. He’s not a very polite or a smart guy, so he doesn’t know what to do. I can tell you guys that it’s a shame for us… it’s a shame that he’s talking crap like this. It’s all ugly things. He’s a dirty guy and I don’t want to talk about, I just don’t want to talk about it.”

Aside from his online bashing of both Jedrzejczyk and Masvidal, Covington briefly engaged in a war of words with top lightweight contender, Dustin Poirier, though “Chaos” ended up apologizing to “The Diamond” shortly before ATT head cheese, Dan Lambert, issued a gym-wide ban on any and all trash talk.

Jedrzejczyk (16-4) is coming off her “fight of the year” against Weili Zhang at UFC 248 back on March 7 and is likely to remain unbooked for the foreseeable future. Not just to recover from her traumatic face injuries, but also to ride out the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
