Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, has postponed her Joanne Calderwood title fight, previously scheduled for the UFC 251 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event on Sat., June 6, 2020 inside RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

But not because of coronavirus.

“We got word last week that it’s going to get pushed back,” Calderwood told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast. “Not because of this whole [coronavirus] thing, but something on her end. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to say that, but we know for sure that it’s not going to be on June 6. I don’t know, I’m not sure what happened or what’s what, but it’s been pushed back. It could be a blessing in disguise.”

Shevchenko has yet to comment.

“Bullet” (19-3) is undefeated since dropping down from the bantamweight division, racking up five straight wins with three violent finishes. As for Calderwood (14-4), she got back into the win column with a split-decision victory over Andrea Lee last September.

Expect to see these two collide at some point later this summer, or perhaps early fall.
