Day 2 of WrestleMania 36 was even more underwhelming than Day 1.
Day 2 of WrestleMania 36 is in the books. It featured eight matches, and something that I can’t even begin to explain well. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt took each other on in a “Firefly Funhouse Rules” match, which apparently means a bunch of weirdness and barely any wrestling. There were puppets, interactions between the two through multiple evolutions of their respective characters, and Cena was even an NWO member at one point.
What?
Apparently Bray won. I’m not really sure. It seemed to go over well on Twitter, but I didn’t think it was funny or interesting at all. I tune in to watch wrestling. If I wanted to see a demented movie, I’d watch a demented movie. If the business tends to trend more in that direction, I will quickly lose interest.
And it completely overshadowed the main event, which saw Drew McIntyre finally reach the pinnacle, winning a hard-hitting but short match over Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship.
Other than that, the card had decent action but nothing outstanding. Edge’s big return in a Last Man Standing match with Randy Orton just didn’t click. It needed an audience to react, and it was about 10 minutes too long. It’s great to see Edge back, and the storyline was great. They were just a victim of circumstance. Edge got the win though, after a conchairto.
The only other title change saw Charlotte taking the NXT Women’s title from Rhea Ripley in the opener.
