Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, was lucky enough to escape his latest DWI arrest without serving jail time, which can be attributed to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as his celebrity status in Albuquerque.
Pretty sure if Joey Bananas had been pulled over with an open bottle of booze and a loaded handgun — after having already been arrested multiple times in the past — that it would amount to a lot more than one-year of supervised probation.
And I would love to know the identity of “Boo Boo Wild Thang.”
Jones, 32, was shackled to an ankle monitor as part of his 96 hours of house arrest (to be served within 90 days). In addition, “Bones” was sentenced to one-year probation and will be required to complete 48 hours of community service, along with a 90-day outpatient drug treatment program.
His car will be outfitted with an ignition interlock device.
By the time July rolls around, the target date for Jones UFC return, most of his negative press will have died down. Besides, with everything else going on in the news, including secret fight islands, combat sports fans have more important things to talk about.
