It’s been a beautiful ride, but the time has come to say goodbye to March MMAdness. Not, of course, without two final tussles to argue about.

Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua 1 (#3) defeats Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar 1 (#2) with 63 percent of Maniac votes.

In the end, it comes down to five-round war vs. five-round war.

Finals: Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2 (#1) vs. Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua 1 (#3)

VS.

Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2 remains unchallenged in its bracket run. After holding its first four opponents to under 40 votes apiece, it took on fellow five-round war #5 Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2 in the Final Four, which managed to drum up 63 votes for a relatively impressive 76%/24% defeat. Something of a moral victory, I suppose.

Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua has been similarly unstoppable, never receiving less than 60% of the vote. Its strongest challenger to date, #2 Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar 1, failed to crack triple digits in its Final Four defeat, setting up a true clash of the titans in these finals.

10 rounds of the finest action combat sports as a whole has ever seen. The sort of drama that deserves big-budget Hollywood adaptations. Human skin warping in genuinely uncomfortable fashion. These are the best of the best, but it’s up to you to determine the best of the best of the best.

Bronze Medal Match: Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2 (#5) vs. Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar 1 (#2)

VS.

Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2 clawed its way to the Final Four by the skin of its teeth, downing top contenders #21 Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum and #2 Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson 1 by a combined 25 votes. The magic wasn’t there against #1 Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2, though, as it joined several other top contenders in one-sided defeat.

Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar 1 entered the Final Four on a bit of a rough note, having narrowly escaped an upset bid by #10 Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the Elite Eight. Despite its credentials, it couldn’t retake the reins, falling to #3 Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua 1.

Edgar and Maynard have the first-round-for-the-ages, more near-finishes, and more technique on their side. Griffin and Bonnar have more consistent insanity and an inarguable place in promotional history on theirs. Which brazen brawl deserves bronze?

To reiterate: spread the word, share socially … do whatever grassroots / viral “Get Out The Vote” campaign needed to ensure your favorite fights walk away with appropriate honors. Complaining in the comments section about seeding and whatnot will not impact the results and will just make you look like an unappreciative dick.
