We’re in the blue corner for today’s matchup in our BE’s BADDEST Tournament Series to figure out what is the single Greatest MMA Fight Of All Time — that one to watch before the world ends. This time, it’s the #4 seed, Fedor Emelianenko vs. Mirko Cro Cop squaring up with the #5 ranked, Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson 2.
In yesterday’s tournament matchup, the #4 Dustin Poirier vs. Korean Zombie locked up with the #5 Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje. We had another close one on our hands here. Poirier vs. Zombie earned 15 votes, but Alvarez vs. Gaethje won on points with 17 votes.
For today’s matchup, two classic PRIDE title bouts are going at it. One is a heavyweight championship scrap that goes to the scorecards, and the other one is a middleweight title tilt that ends early.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Mirko Cro Cop took place at PRIDE Final Conflict 2005 and the promotion’s heavyweight title was up for grabs. Fedor could do no wrong at this point in time, and a prime Cro Cop was ready to showcase what two world-class MMA heavyweights could do. This is two of the elites in full form, but as the legend goes, Fedor walked away with the decision victory.
Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson 2 was for PRIDE’s middleweight title and went down at PRIDE 28: High Octane back on Halloween of 2004. What a crazy scrap this was! Both men were throwing heat. Both men were getting rocked. In the end, Silva was able to put together a combination that staggered Rampage, before a vicious knee sent a limp Jackson falling through the ropes.
