For today’s matchup, we’ve got two title fights squaring off. One of them was a split decision war for the UFC middleweight belt, and the other one produced a finish for Bellator’s lightweight strap.
Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit was a 185-pound championship bout and took place at UFC 195 on January 2, 2016. With both men known for their violent natures, this fight lived up to the hype! Both men scored knockdowns and both were forced to weather respective storms. In the end, it was the “Ruthless” one who walked away with the split decision and his belt intact.
Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler 1 was a 155-pound title fight that went down at Bellator 58 on November 19, 2011. This bout became an instant classic! Alvarez was rocked right out of the gate, nearly getting finished, but somehow recovered and punched his way back into the fight. Just as the defending champ was building steam going into the fourth round, Chandler pelted him with a right hand that dropped him. Chandler quickly pounced with ground strikes and was able to scramble to the back and sink a rear-naked choke to get the tap and win the belt.
