Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every quarantined night!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
First things first, the clip above is really damn cool.
In what looks like a Peaky Blinders set, one man appears to knock the hat off another. The two men quickly square off, and the antagonist lands first. The surrounding crowd barely takes notice or parts, though one man does take it upon himself to mime a kick at the pair of brawlers.
Secondly, the information here is to be taken with a grain of salt. The Instagram caption reads, “The first ever recorded street fight, 1901. Two workers get in to a scuffle at the Pendlebury Colliery, a coal mine in North England. The mine was 1,775 feet deep and employed approximately 640 men underground and 165 surface workers at the turn of the 20th century.” Despite my best efforts, I could not find further information or a more reputable source, only some other claims that the scrap took place in 1918.
Either way, I do believe this might be the oldest fight clip posted in Midnight Mania history, and that’s pretty darn cool!
Insomnia
Andre Fili took an acting role in a Urijah Faber-produced film titled Green Rush that released today. That’s a first for both of them, so check it out!
It doesn’t matter the cost, this must happen.
If Dana White pulls off this absolute banger of a closed door fight card on May 9th, they should put a cardboard cutout of the Just Bleed guy in every single seat in the venue. pic.twitter.com/O2G3CRew1i

At this point, it’s the oldest joke in the book … that doesn’t mean it isn’t funny.
During my IG Live chat with Urijah Faber, Darren Till slid into the comments and asked Urijah if he could “borrow one of his chins for the Masvidal rematch.” Someone come get this man.

This clip is beyond hilarious to me.
Saenchai’s shadowboxing is quite aesthetically pleasing.
Daniel Cormier has certainly earned the right to make some jokes in the direction of his old friend Ben Askren. Dillon Danis? Not so much.
Maybe lower your expectations a touch for the May 9th “super card.”
Slips, rips, and KO clips
One of the scarier knockouts in MMA history.

We need more leg lock guys. They’re very live/die by the sword, and it makes for great entertainment and sudden finishes.

Midnight Music: I went back to my records tonight (I’ve been lazy) and spun Nina Simone’s Wild is the Wind. It’s one of her best, but even Simone’s bad recordings are pretty great!
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
